Altamira FLNG 1: Fast-tracking offshore LNG export using the IQuay® F-Class.

Altamira FLNG 1 is an offshore LNG export facility located outside Altamira, Mexico, owned and operated by New Fortress Energy (NFE). NFE announced first LNG for its initial Fast LNG asset in the summer of 2024, marking the start of production at the facility.

The project is based on NFE’s modular Fast LNG approach, pairing modular liquefaction technology with repurposed jack-up rigs. LNG transfer between the offshore facility and the receiving floating storage unit is enabled by ECOnnect Energy’s proprietary IQuay® F-Class system.

The Challenge

NFE needed to meet growing LNG demand with a solution that could be deployed quickly and keep energy accessible, without the long timelines of traditional LNG infrastructure.

The solution: The IQuay F-Class

‍Floating hoses: Cryogenic, flexible hoses for LNG offloading
Hose reel: Mounted on jack-up rig for controlled deployment and safe stowage of cryogenic hoses
Gas balcony: Permanently installed on FSU maindeck, interface between ship and floating hoses.
