The project is an export scale green hydrogen, green ammonia, freshwater and renewable electricity production project for an Australian energy major.

Renewable energy sources
The project will have a global impact and is expected to significantly offset greenhouse gas emissions associated with energy consumption. It aims to develop a large-scale renewable energy hub and associated infrastructure, taking advantage of the region's abundant natural resources and its strategic coastal location. The primary objective is to harness renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind, to generate clean and sustainable electricity. The project will construct solar farms, wind turbines, and potentially other renewable energy technologies to for an annual ammonia production of 525 000 tpa. The energy generated will be fed into the electricity grid, contributing to the transition towards a low-carbon energy system.

The project is an important contributor to sustainable industry development in Australia and surrounding regions. The IQuay will serve this project as a floating jetty, minimizing construction costs and environmental impacts. The floating solution will substitute a conventional jetty that is piled to the seabed by transporting the cargo in floating, flexible pipes. This leaves the marine environment undisturbed, supporting the sustainability of the green energy production facility.

Jettyless infrastructure - minimizing environmental impacts.
ECOnnect Energy’s low-impact, patented transfer system will be instrumental in expanding the facility in this extremely sensitive environment.

The portfolio of IQuay solutions are suitable for permanent or semi-permanent installations, whereby LNG, ammonia, hydrogen, and CO2 can be safely and efficiently transferred between supply and storage facilities. To accommodate the diversity in the maturity of infrastructure networks are in different regions of the world, the IQuay is fluid agnostic and flexibility is inherent in the system’s design.

“We are proud to be selected as a partner in this important green ammonia project” states Morten Christophersen, CEO of ECOnnect Energy. “The solutions we provide for green ammonia will make an important contribution to our client's success.”

Spread mooring uses multiple anchors and standard components for quicker, less intrusive installation, while dolphin mooring relies on fixed structures that require heavy civil works and longer lead times. This makes spread mooring more flexible and environmentally friendly, with higher operational uptime and easier adaptation to floating transfer systems like the IQuay C-Class. Recent projects show that spread mooring is becoming a preferred choice for LNG terminals where speed, sustainability, and adaptability are priorities.

ECOnnect Energy is pleased to announce significant progress in the development of the IQuay Regas Terminal, having recently secured two pre-FEED contracts for the fast-track modular regasification (regas) solution. The IQuay Regas Terminal consists of a Floating Storage Unit (FSU), a modular floating regas platform (the R-Class), ship mooring and subsea or floating pipelines to shore for transfer of high-pressure gas. These two milestones underscore the growing market interest in fast, floating, and flexible alternatives to traditional regasification infrastructure.
