The Norwegian Tech Award, presented by Teknisk Ukeblad, celebrates breakthrough technologies that tackle complex societal or environmental challenges, and must be demonstrably developed in Norway. ECOnnect Energy’s nomination highlights the real-world impact of our jettyless transfer technology, which is operational and redefining marine energy infrastructure.
A new approach to energy logistics
Our IQuay technolgy offers a flexible, scalable, and lower-impact alternative to traditional jetties and port infrastructure. Instead of building extensive coastal installations, we bring the “jetty” out to the vessel, minimizing environmental disturbance and enabling faster deployment of critical energy connections.
Recently, our technology went live in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, where it now plays a key role in Europe’s energy security. This installation represents not only a technical milestone but a leap forward in making energy infrastructure more agile and sustainable.
“In a world that needs speed, energy security and sustainability, our technology offers a different path forward. Being named a finalist for the Norwegian Tech Award is an honor, not just for our team, but for the broader mission to redefine marine energy infrastructure,” says Magnus Eikens, Co-founder and CCO of ECOnnect Energy.
Celebrating Norwegian engineering
The other finalists for this year’s award reflect the depth and diversity of Norwegian innovation:
– Aibel Offshore Wind, for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) platforms bringing offshore wind power to land.
– NORSAR, for advanced seismic technology supporting global security and disaster monitoring.
– Sensio, for smart home systems that support safe and independent living for the elderly.
– Vianode, for low-emission graphite production for electric vehicle batteries.
All five finalists will be celebrated at Kongsberg Agenda on June 19, where the winner will be announced live from the main stage.
