ECONNECT Energy is delighted to welcome Torkel Halmø to the Board of Directors. Torkel not only brings a wealth of business and finance experience from the private and public sectors, but he has maintained a keen interest in the growth and commercialisation of ECONNECT for many years.

Torkel has both a business degree and a post-graduate financial analyst degree from NHH (The Norwegian School of Economics in Bergen), and has since spent many years with PwC assisting clients in assessing deals and developing and building PwC's deals advisory services, among other tasks. He is currently a Director in the Ownership Department at the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, a post he has held since 2019.

Torkel’s financial and commercial profile and intimate understanding of corporate strategy, M&A, compliance and regulatory environments will prove helpful as ECONNECT Energy continues to grow its global project portfolio and team. This is particularly true given recent geopolitical and energy activities.

“We’ve seen the energy transition accelerate during the pandemic and gain even more attention as a result of the war in Ukraine,” he shares. “This will affect financial markets, government policy and regulatory frameworks, challenging ESG views and traditional energy practice.”

In 2006 Torkel took an opportunity to work on the annual NRK fundraiser to support Doctors without Borders, where he helped raise more than NOK 200M, and where he also met his wife. When not working, Torkel enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters in the mountains or at the beaches of Biarritz.

Welcome, Torkel!

Spread mooring uses multiple anchors and standard components for quicker, less intrusive installation, while dolphin mooring relies on fixed structures that require heavy civil works and longer lead times. This makes spread mooring more flexible and environmentally friendly, with higher operational uptime and easier adaptation to floating transfer systems like the IQuay C-Class. Recent projects show that spread mooring is becoming a preferred choice for LNG terminals where speed, sustainability, and adaptability are priorities.

ECOnnect Energy is pleased to announce significant progress in the development of the IQuay Regas Terminal, having recently secured two pre-FEED contracts for the fast-track modular regasification (regas) solution. The IQuay Regas Terminal consists of a Floating Storage Unit (FSU), a modular floating regas platform (the R-Class), ship mooring and subsea or floating pipelines to shore for transfer of high-pressure gas. These two milestones underscore the growing market interest in fast, floating, and flexible alternatives to traditional regasification infrastructure.
