ECOnnect Energy has been named the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Norway winner at the national finale held on February 6. Competing against 11 outstanding finalists, ECOnnect’s founders Miriam Wennberg, Morten Christophersen, Magnus Eikens, and Stian Magnusson took home the prestigious award, recognizing their visionary leadership and innovation in the energy sector.

Founded in 2012, ECOnnect Energy has developed a pioneering floating transfer solution that eliminates the need for fixed onshore infrastructure. This flexible and sustainable technology enables the transfer and handling of LNG, ammonia, hydrogen, and CO2, supporting the global transition to cleaner energy solutions. In 2023, ECOnnect Energy achieved a revenue of NOK 542 million, with a net profit of NOK 116 million.

Recognized for Impact and Entrepreneurial Spirit

The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year jury, comprised of top executives, entrepreneurs, and industry experts, highlighted ECOnnect’s strong entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, and bold approach to business. The jury’s statement emphasized the company’s ability to identify opportunities and scale a groundbreaking solution with significant impact on global energy logistics.

“ECOnnect Energy’s technology addresses critical challenges in the energy industry, providing a sustainable and efficient alternative to traditional infrastructure. Their ability to innovate and execute positions them as a key player in the energy transition.” – EY Jury Statement

Next Stop: The Global Finale in Monaco

As the national winner, ECOnnect Energy will represent Norway at the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year World Finale in Monaco in June 2025. This global event will bring together top entrepreneurs from over 60 countries to celebrate innovation and business excellence on an international stage.

“Winning this award is a huge honor and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. Entrepreneurship is about taking risks, solving problems, and building something that lasts. We’re excited to represent Norway in Monaco and continue driving innovation in the energy sector.”Morten Christophersen, CEO

A Celebration of Entrepreneurship

In addition to the main award, EY also recognized outstanding companies in the Scale-Up and ESG categories, as well as presenting the EY Family Enterprise Award of Excellence. The program is a celebration of entrepreneurship, highlighting companies that create jobs, drive growth, and contribute to a more sustainable future.

“Entrepreneurs play a crucial role in shaping the future, and ECOnnect Energy is a shining example of how innovation and determination can create real impact.”Ina K. Rosenberg, EY Norway

This recognition fuels ECOnnect’s ambition to further expand its technology and support industries in transitioning to cleaner and more efficient energy solutions.
