ECONNECT Energy is delighted to welcome new Project Director Dag Thorvaldsen to the growing team.

The Risør native and resident and father of four has been in the offshore energy project space since 1993, with a self-described “keen interest for the mechanical and technical aspects of projects,” with several years’ of project management experience under his belt.

Dag has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Høgskolen i Oslo (HiO) and has managed FPSO FEED projects and other offshore installations, for both the UK Continental Shelf and the Norwegian sector. He received on-the-job project management training early in his career with Aker and other energy companies.

Most recently Dag held the position of Manager for Engineering for MacGregor with responsibility for 135+ employees.

Dag is a familiar face at ECONNECT Energy; in 2017 he was the construction manager for the fabrication of the IQuay (formerly UTS).

“I enjoyed my time with ECONNECT (formerly Connect LNG) in Brevik during fabrication. Everyone had a wonderful enthusiasm to deliver this new technology – it was amazing what we achieved, delivering the world’s first floating transfer unit for LNG.”

Dag is responsible for the financial and technical results of project delivery, where his offshore experience will be invaluable moving forward.

On returning to ECONNECT Energy, Dag shares, “I know the concept, I know the people, and it was really the team that drew me back.”

When not working, you can find Dag on his boat during the Autumn lobster season in Norway.

Disruptions to critical infrastructure expose the limits of fixed jetties. This article outlines how the IQuay systems’ compact, movable components allow terminals to be deployed fast. This enables re‑establishment of ship‑to‑shore connectivity, adds redundancy, and keeps essential LNG flows running during repairs.
